By far our most favorite stop is always Ireland during the Wine & Food Festival at EPCOT. The Lobster and Seafood Fisherman’s Pie was good last year but we passed over that this year for the Kerrygold Cheese Selection and Warm Chocolate Pudding with Bailey’s Custard. These are two things that no one should leave the park without enjoying at least once or twice, like we did.
The cheeses on the plate were Reserve Cheddar, Dubliner with Irish Stout and Skellig. They present it with bread if you want but I went right to the cheese to enjoy the flavors. The boldness of the cheddar and the creaminess of the Skellig will melt in your mouth and send you back to the old country.
No day is complete until there is chocolate involved and when it is covered in Bailey’s Custard I will never look at a lava cake in the same way again. The chocolate pudding, as they call it, was warm and so rich. The custard was the right pairing with just the right amount of Bailey’s that even our 13 year old fell in love with it and ate most of what was on the plate.
The Chilled Irish Coffee featuring Bunratty Patcheen is one of my favorite things at the festival. The alcohol taste is not too overpowering that you can not get to the bottom of the glass in under a minute. I like to try to make mine last for as long as possible, which is usually till our next stop.
