During our recent trip to Walt Disney World there was one major change, FastPass has now gone totally FastPass+. If you book a resort stay and have a ticket to the parks you will be receiving a MagicBand and need to become familiar with the My Disney Experience. The days of waiting for your turn to get a FastPass or seeing that you should have gotten up earlier are gone. You can start planning your trip before you ever leave the house. We have written other articles on the My Disney Experience and now you will need to pay attention or get left behind. There are plenty of spots in the park on the day you go to make your plans, but there were long lines and confused looks on people’s faces in these areas. I would suggest that you get the app or go the web site and take a little time to plan your vacation.
There is no need to plan out every single second of the day but a little planning will go a long way for everyone to have the amazing vacation at Walt Disney World. The last time we went we did not have the kids so there were things they don’t ride that we wanted to make sure we got to do. We sat down with my smartphone and started planning our trip. The first day we went to Magic Kingdom and there we made our three selections for the day. Once we were at the park we changed what we wanted to do and just took a minute to modify our FastPass+ selections and then off we went to finish out our day. The rest of our trip went just as we had planned and there were plenty of free time for us to sit and have a glass of wine in Italy between the plans we had made.
The FastPass+ and MagicBands are getting mixed reviews by all people but if there is one thing I could say about all our experience with them is:
There are still ways Disney could improve the system and I’m sure they are looking into the suggestions that everyone is giving in the surveys but for the most part, my family knows what we want to do and we know that we will be able to do most of it at a time that fits our schedule.
Planning a vacation is not a bad thing and a little planning is assurance that you will at least get some if not all of what you want out of your vacation.
